Bath time recommendations- 8 month old flings himself around!

My baby enjoys bath time but he won't sit still. He flings himself around, tries to pull himself up on the bath handles and throws himself from his back to his front! Constantly.

We really thought bath time would be easier and he was sitting up unaided but apparently not.

He has outgrown the Angelcare support, and toys don't distract him for long enough. A colourful bath mat is also of limited use.

Not only are our backs killing us, but we're having to hold him really tightly around at least one arm, and taking 5 secs here and there to sponge him down or wash his hair leaves him at risk if banging his head on the side or face planting into the water.

Does anyone else have a baby like this, and if so, how did you solve it? I'm looking at bath seats online but an loathe to buy yet another product we'll only use for a short while (and they're quite difficult to keep mould free and clean by the sounds of it)

If there's anything innovative out there (or household solutions..... Perforated washing basket? Expensive bath toys the stick to the side of the bath for him to keep himself truly occupied and still?!) I would love to know

Bath seat. Get a second hand one from Facebook marketplace for a fiver. DD was in one until 10 months and it made baths quite relaxing for me Grin

Ps. No issues with keeping it clean. These suction cups are so strong I used to stick it on the wall by the shower to drain. After months of use it was clean as a whistle

That's a great tip for low maintenance drying of the seat, I might just get one now! Thank you Smile

Excellent. But do get one second hand. They go for as little as 3 quid on Facebook marketplace where I am!
Good luck. With DD now of a walking age I'm missing my quiet bath times 😆
