Size 1 Tots Bots OK for a newborn?

So, my lovely council is giving me 10 cotton bots bots in white, aplix. Some wraps as well.

Will they be OK in size for a likely to be 10lbish newborn?

will be a bit bulky at first but certainly do-able!! Good Luck!

kittypants · 24/05/2007 11:19

should be fine.

Oh size one will be great for a 10lber, how good is your council where abouts are you?

Westminster is giving new mothers £35 as a help towards a starter pack of cloth nappies

I used size 2's on ds from birth and he was 8lbs when he was born! So size ones will be fine ceolas.

What a nice council you have - I had to buy all mine

Do you have a choice in wraps? If so, go for Motherease airflow wraps, not totsbots own ones - they are not as good.

I personally think tots bots are a bit on the big size in all sizes. They seem to me like they are shaped for high birth weight babies that go on to be short and chubby.
The brand new Tots Bots wraps are ok but I like the Nature babies wraps over Tots as they are roomier for such a chunky nappy.

iamanidiot - lancashire council is giving out £45 vouchers, if you google loads of councils have various incentives.

i am trying to figure out what to buy and have no idea where to start, rather liked fleece wraps but just been informed they are not a day to day option so stuck again. only actual shop round here suggested bambino mio, thats the only one they sell. have not got great reviews on here tho

Ceolas · 05/06/2007 21:21

I have to get the tots wraps (hoping they're the new style!).

I could choose to get £50 off if I buy another brand of nappy, but the Tots are worth about £100.

Ceolas, go for the tots they will be fine. They may look a bit bulky but if your baby is likely to be 10lb at birth then I think they will be fine. Also if it is a heavy wetter you will be glad you went for the tots as they are very absorbant. The only thing I would say is my ds grew out of the size 1 tots at 14lbs (I think he was around 4 months old then), if you are likely to have a big baby (mine was very long but fairly slim) it might be better for you to get the size 2's. They can be used from birth by folding the top down although obviously that makes them even bulkier. Once you get used to the bulk though it's not a problem.

nappyzone · 07/06/2007 21:12

ooo i jealous - our council gives nothing - well actually thats not true if you go through a particular company you allegedly get 20% of - the napps still work out dearer than what i could get on the internet with the discount. It riles me that councils claim to be green but do nothing decent about it !
