2 month old being fussy when having bottle help ?

Pretty much what the title says.... 2 month old baby at feeding time shows that she is clearly hungry. Takes bottle perfectly fine up until she needs winded. Once I have winded her she will maybe take another two sips of bottle then turn her head away. But then cries when bottle isn't in her mouth, so I try again and the same thing happens takes about two sips and she turns her head away again.

This has only started happening maybe the past week or so, so I changed to a faster flow teat to see if that helped, did for maybe a day then back to the same head turning. She was talking 5oz, now takes about 3-4 if I keep going with the two sips and her turning away. But if I give her her dummy to settle her when trying to get more wind she goes back to sleep ???

Any help will be much appreciated thanks

She sounds full. Try offering less each feed but a bit more often.

My similarly aged DD does this, she's been diagnosed with silent reflux ( with a load of other symptoms now too) but that's exactly how hers started out, we where so confused and gave her the dummy cause we thought maybe she just wanted something to suckle on, it turns out reflux makes it really painful for them to drink sometimes and that's why she was acting like she wanted some then turning away. Have you looked into reflux?

Disclaimer: I'm extremely sleep deprived so I'm sorry if some of that is written out terriblyBlush

Thank you for replying ! It was just because she used to always take the 5oz but seems to be going back the way, I suppose if she was starving she'd let me know.

Yeah it's so horrible seeing her in pain Sad definitely look in to it cause that's exactly what happened to us, although she was a few weeks old when it all started, oh an maybe keep track of weight since you said about the refusing some feeds? it was such a relief getting the diagnoses to finally know what's causing the pain. we make sure we burp her every 10ml of feed, keep her upright for as long as possible (as laying down can make it worse), and we have medication prescribed, ranitidine. You can get baby gaviscon prescribed as well. Hope you find some answers Smile

That's how my bub started off (silent reflux). Fussing on the bottle, going rigid, then crying when not on the bottle. Much better now, hes having omeprazol daily x

We had Alot of issues, they originally palmed me off for like 4 weeks before he got prescribed anything. 'hes just fussy' they'd say, and my personal fave by the midwife 'babies cry, he's using you as a human dummy'.... Ummmm no! I know when my baby is in pain!!! Poor boy was starving and was obviously in pain anytime he drank!

We were in hospital for 3 weeks (feeding issues) and they still didn't know what was wrong. After a bit of research when they sent me home I Googled silent reflux. We were admitted to hospital again when he was 5 weeks old, I wasnt coping, he was losing weight, and his feeds were taking 2 hours. Two hours of feed for 1min...go rigid....cry.... Come off bottle and repeat. When we were readmitted I basically DEMANDED they prescribe me meds for ds amd they happily did. Just 5 weeks too late! He has 10ml omeprazol tablet dissolved and I syringe 3.5ml in to his mouth. They mig ht prescribe something else. Be forceful if you think something is off, don't be fobbed off! Also if you do get prescribed omeprazol get your GP to review dosage every few weeks. They failed to tell me the disease went up when a certain amount of weight was put on, and didn't tell me until I went back because it had stopped working! It's fine now tho, sorry for the long essay,x

Omg dosage haha

Tropicana123 · 24/06/2018 21:25

No thank you for your reply ! Oh what a wee soul going through that for so long. Like me you probably thought they knew best at first, but no ur quite right to demand something for him when u know he's not right. Glad he's getting what he needs now though. I have docs this week for her check up I'll mention it there x
