What shall I do about the cheater in our class?

I'm just about to finish a social science Access course. One of the men on the course has been seen cheating in one of the exams by another student. He has now admitted to half the class, that he has copied his psychology experiment from his friend who is studying psychology at university.

I'm furious, the psychology experiment is really time consuming and I've sacrificed so much time with my daughter to complete it. The cheat lives at home with his parents, has no commitments and doens't have the ability to pass the course without cheating.

So what should I do? Leave it go and just concentrate on my own work or do something about it?

I would leave an anonymous not on the teachers desk,

after all if hes told half the class then the note could be from anyone.

Why should you work so hard and him get by on somebody elses hard work??

Id just tell the tutor in from=nt of him!

I agree with kittylette - this sort of thing makes me so mad. There were definite cheats on my degree course and it was really unfair. The real injustice there though was that I think in retrospect the lecturers knew full well what was going on.

If you can't leave an anonymous note could you set up an anonymous email for the sole purpose of just getting the messgae across?

tell! if you know which uni it is they will be able to check, unis come down really hard on people for this i dont see why colleges shouldnt. (i dont think the friend will get in trouble as he has not copied). i would not be anon, i would see tutor but not in front of him

Did an Access course myself and always found it frustrating that it was the younger students with the least amount of responsibilities who would hand in work late, copy and paste from the internet etc. However I wouldn't say anything cos it's just not worth it..and anyway when he gets to uni he'll be in for a shock because they are v aware of these things and come down hard on any hint of plagiarism!

Personally I don't think he should be allowed to get away with it. I've been very verbal in front of the rest of the class about my feelings. If a note was to show up the rest of the class would know it was me.

I only have three weeks left on the course, the cheat is only in his first of two years. So if I was to inform the tutor, I wouldn't be around for any backlash but he would leave the course with nothing

So tempting to make the tutors aware but I'm not the type to cause problems for others.
