PIP claim - It's taking too long and I'm anxious!

Long story short, I claim DLA and was told I needed to apply for PIP. I did the whole phone application (within their 2 wk deadline), the paper application (within their 3 wk deadline), had a home visit/face to face assessment over 6 weeks ago. The nurse who assessed me said I'd hear within 4 weeks. A week later I had a text from DWP saying I'd hear within 4 weeks. We are now nearing 6 weeks after the text with no word.

I suffer from generalised anxiety disorder, which is one of the things I'm actually claim for (on top of some physical disabilities) and the waiting is really exacerbated it. I'm in a bit of a state.

How long did it take for others to hear back? Is there anything I can do to speed it up? Someone please tell me that it's not taking this long because I'm having my benefits taken off me!! I don't know how I'll cope if they do that.

My letters for transferring DLA to PIP arrived just after Christmas last year, and my award given in July, straight forward with no appeals, received after a home visit.

I think I waited about 8 weeks post assessment for the outcome.

Can you ring and ask if a decision has been made, and when you will hear?

If it's not good news then fight it all the way. I'm awaiting a tribunal date. 2nd time I've had to go through it but won last time and confident I'm win again.
Their waiting times vary so don't worry but definitely give them a call to chase up.

My mums took a good few weeks more than they said to come back after her home visit. She is still getting her benefits the same, but the report was pretty outrageous, but as she is getting it, I'm nit worried.
However, I was prepared to fight as I thought it would be rejected so it was a pleasant surprise when it was granted.
Mum was also having to apply having been on dla for over 10 years. But she couldn't so I had to do it all for her.
I hope you get a good outcome OP. It's exhausting going through the process so sympathies.

Of you ring and ask for a copy of the assessor's report you can tell the award from there.

I waited nearly 12 weeks because mine went for audit! All was fine in the end though and they backdated everything. Agree with PP's saying ask for a copy of the assessors report. Good luck x
