Formula fed baby constipated whilst weaning - how much extra water?

Hi I have just started weaning my 6 month old.

I have just been mushing up fruit and veg so far and he is loving it. I have been mixing in formula too so he’s still having as much milk but has just recently become constipated and it’s struggling to go!

How much water should I be giving him during his food? I don’t want to give him too much but I don’t know when is enough. I’m a first time mum so I’m trying to pick everything up quickly.

Thank you

Just add a bit of water to the fruit when you mush it ( could use cool kettle water or tap)

Also start giving them a sippy cup of water too ( just tap water) They will prob just water themselves with this but it's a learning curve

Just give your normal feeds plus the food to start with

Once they are eating 3 meals a day you can adjust the bottles

So your meals might be 11am and then adding 3pm rather than replacing bottles or sticking to set breakfast lunch dinner to start off.

I just kept offering sippy cup during meals. Ella prune pouches, tinned peaches and pears are all good for constipation. Avoid banana.
