Formula fed baby constipated whilst weaning - how much extra water?

Hi I have just started weaning my 6 month old.

I have just been mushing up fruit and veg so far and he is loving it. I have been mixing in formula too so he’s still having as much milk but has just recently become constipated and it’s struggling to go!

How much water should I be giving him during his food? I don’t want to give him too much but I don’t know when is enough. I’m a first time mum so I’m trying to pick everything up quickly.

Thank you

Just put it in a sippy cup, give it to him with his food and see what he drinks.

My baby got a bit constipated too when weaning. Offer water with every meal in a sippy cup (we use a free flow one and I tilted it for him until he figured out how to do it himself). Also try prunes as they tend to get things moving! I mixed a pouch of Ella's Kitchen prunes into his porridge and he loved it.
