Toddlers hair obsession!

My LO is 17 months old, and since he was 2 months he has slept with me in my bed. This is because he was one of them babies that woke up every half an hour wanting comforting and feeding. He's always been cuddly with me and has developed an obsession with holding/pulling my hair and wrapping it up in his hand. ( so very hard to escape when he falls asleep. ) I have tried tying my hair up in a tight bun, but he still manages to find the tiniest of hairs to wrap around his fingers, and if he doesn't he will just pull on my hair until he gets some which is really painful. Through the night he reaches out and does it in his sleep, I'm starting to get bald patches at the front of my head as this is usually where he grabs it, and he does pull it hard. Shouting and telling him no just doesn't work. We have tried to get him in his own bed but have got no chance of it. I've tried clipping hair extensions onto a teddy bear but he just managed to get himself all tangled up. He now refuses to go to sleep with my partner as his hair is too short to wrap around. It is just so frustrating as this is the only thing that comforts him when he's sad or tired. It's very draining.

Can you try a head scarf?

My friend went through this, she used a wig instead, could you try that instead of extensions?

What about a doll with hair?
