Popolino and Motherease

Motherease nappies are made in Canada. However, the same nappies are also made under licence by Popolinio in Austria, and they are a little cheaper. Their onesize nappies also INCLUDE the popin booster in the price, so that makes them a LOT cheaper. They also do 2 size (Sandys) identical wraps , although the prints are different, and they do a budget quality one in addition to the Motherease quality one (It's only the outer fabric which is different)
So what is the obsession with Motherease, in the present climate of food miles? Shouldn't we be thinking of "Nappy miles" as well, and buying at least European, if not British?
Has anyone else compared them? I haven't found any difference at all, except in the all-in-one, and I find the Popolini one is better, if a little bulkier (It also includes a booster in the price)
They've got more choice of qualities as well.

We bought our motherease and popolinos 7 years ago, I think there's loads more choice of locally produced ones now.

But you don't actually keep buying nappies, well we didn't, so the nappy miles aren't going to be that significant for a bundle of cloth once in my 3 children's nappy-lifetimes.

Muminfife, I think what has happened to the British textiles industry is shocking, I expected wambamboo's to be made in the uk, but again they are made in Turkey I thiink if you are looking at air miles then it's really Minkis, Ella's House and Nature Babies hat are the big UK names, and of course the smalle WAHM's.

I think it's very sad that Tots Bots have moved production to Turkey and many people think this happened at the same time as their long delay started. AAs a retailer I have to say their customer service for wholesale orders is shocking, I know I have to keep a large supply of Tots in or risk being short for orders

I thought the popolinis one size were a bit smaller than ME, at least the ones I have are. They don't fit DS anymore even though he is just 11.5kg.
But I do love popolinis AIOs (not the new ones) although they are very bulky.

A lot of the cotton is grown in turkey so I suppose it would only have to be transported here first if they were made in the uk. The Popolini wool wraps need lanolising not the PUL ones that are the same as the Motherease ones. Mother ease don't do a comparable wool wrap.

For other UK ones you can look for Little Kiwi Quick Flips, Clwt Twt, Baby Bufters, and I think Little Lambs too.
