Hi mummies, I need help, how do people get the get up and go? I have none, how do you get energy to play with the little balls of energy that are your kids? I'm so tired (for no reason may I add, not even really lack of sleep to blame) but my little girl just wanted to play and I couldn't move off the sofa. Do you guys have any tips for what to do when energy reserves have run out, it's not yet bedtime, and you don't want to rely on screen time? Might add that she doesn't tend to like entertaining herself, as much as I love her wanting to play with me, I run out of energy before she does! I need tips!

Play at doctors, dentists, beauty salons, hairdressers. During which you can be the patient/customer and sit back and relax Smile.

Berocca and Spatone.

Ooh does berocca work? What's spartome? Thanks. I think my girls clocked on to games I can play sitting down and tends to find a way around it x 😆

Berocca is an effervescent vitamin tablet which gives energy and Spatone is an iron supplement, much gentler than tablets. Those two got me through the first few years of parenting.

Ooh ok. I take vitamin D and folic acid in the hope that would help. Will look to get those thanks!

I’m finding protein bars and fruit smoothies actually helping a lot. Nature valley peanut and choc bars are gorge and good pick me up. Those superfood fruit smoothies are packed with all that good stuff (don’t really know what haha) but definitely has helped me not to feel so groggy and helped me cut back on coffee

JumpedOverTheMoon · 10/06/2018 22:08

Oh thanks Lana I'm cutting down on the caffeine because restless legs are doing my head in, willing to try anything to help. I'm not sure smoothies go well with slimming world but hey, can't win everything! Thanks! X

Check your diet, perhaps you are eating something that is making you feel sluggish. I find white bread, pasta makes me feel that way.

I was getting to mid-week and being completely shattered. Evenings I was doing little more than crawl onto the sofa.
I now take a basic supermarket multi-vitamin every day and I got a bit fitter.
The combination of vitamins, less bread & pasta and more veg, and Park Run most Saturdays seems to have solved it for now.

JumpedOverTheMoon · 11/06/2018 09:42

I am trying to get fitter, most of my complaints are probably caused by weight anyway so I am trying to do more. It's the energy to start doing more I need 😆
We do have a lot of pasta actually, daughters fave meal... Maybe ill swap it for something else. Thanks 😊

Ask your doctor for blood tests for any deficiencies.

Make sure you have a good bedtime and morning routine. Get outside at least once a day.

Ideally have a partner to take some of the childcare!

Don't expect to keep up with them all of the time- children have more stamina than adults do naturally.

I find I have more energy if I eat a high protein low carb diet. Also going to the gym regularly helps. I used to be quite unfit and I never understood how exercise could boost energy as I found exercise exhausting. The first few weeks of regular gym visits tired me out but then as I got fitter it felt better until I was positively energetic.
