My son is a month old but today he hasn’t been his usual self. He has got this on his face (see image) . He has been really sleepy today which is not his normal self and he only took 2oz at lunch when i formula fed him, I then breastfed him at 5:45pm, he didn’t seem to take too much but an hour later he was throwing up watery lumpy sick on three different occasions followed by two dirty nappies. I bathed him and he was looking to feed again so I gave him his normal formula bottle (I feed formula for lunch and just before bed) he only wanted 1oz and fell straight to sleep, he stirred for more a little later and he took only 1oz again and has gone straight back to sleep again. He isn’t running a temp though. What’s your opinion??

Heat rash? He could be just too warm and not feeling hungry.

mum2bemay22 · 01/06/2018 20:52

I did think that so stripped him to his nappy and laid him on his playmat, usually he would cry but he just stared into space...

A month old baby off his feeds, staring into space with a rash needs checking over urgently by a doctor

He did cry when I changed his nappy and when he was after some more food but not his normal wailing. Do I keep a closer eye on him before rushing him off to be seen? He is my first and don’t want to overreact but also don’t want to take any chances...

Better safe than sorry OP. I would ring NHS direct or whatever it is called now. I think it’s 111.

mum2bemay22 · 01/06/2018 21:03

Also I would say what he has on his face are more like little spots under the skin rather than a rash if that makes sense, not sure if others can see that in the photos

It might just be baby 'acne' and it's hot

It might be serious

RING 111

seven201 · 01/06/2018 21:13

I think that looks like baby acne which is very normal.

But I still think you should ring 111.

When did you start giving him formula? Just wondering if he has a milk allergy (very common, my daughter has it).

mum2bemay22 · 01/06/2018 21:14

Been on hold to 111 for 8 mins, they don’t answer very quickly do they!

Given his age I bet 111 will ask that you get him seen- they do for most small children.

But they look like milk spots to me- and babies can have off days. But you know him best- if you’re concerned get him seen.

seven201 · 02/06/2018 08:30

How did you get on?

mum2bemay22 · 02/06/2018 09:12

Doctor rang and wasn’t overly concerned in the evening but then he was off his food in the middle of the night, he took some and threw it all back up so rang 111 again and was seen straight away by the doctor who said he appeared ok and wasn’t concerned. So much happier I got him checked though! Thank you everyone x
