Night Light for teen

My teen son has admitted to me that he is scared of the dark and it is affecting his sleep. I'm pleased that he felt he could talk to me and now I'd like to do something practical to help him.

Can anyone suggest a night light aimed at adults?

It’s not aimed at adults, but we have the calpol plug in and that comes with a blue night light which is a good way of lighting up the room (you don’t have to use the calpol strips every night with it but they are good when he has a cold as it smells amazing!)

... it would work well in a teens bedroom as it’s plain and doesn’t have any characters on it etc.

My dcs have a low wattage night light that is plugged in, from Ikea

My dd has a lumie which is an alarm clock and a light and has a night light function.

How about some battery powered fairy lights for round the end of his bed / across a bookshelf? Or a ropelight ? You can get plain white or a variety of colours

Floralnomad · 31/05/2018 23:21

How about a Himalayan salt lamp , they give off a nice glow , we have one on in our bedroom overnight .

PeppermintPasty · 31/05/2018 23:21

My 11yo has a small light changing cube. He got the idea from his 21 yo cousin, so it seems to suit all ages!

I'd go for some fairy lights. You can get very plain non princess's ones or ones like a solar system. That way it's all part of a decor and not obvious. Strong them round the curtain pole or bed post.

Saying that I'm obsessed with these house of disaster dinousaur lights and wondering how I can work them into my bedroom

Ooh Himalayan salt lamp is a fab idea. They give a low glow and are really really cool so it won’t look like a night light. I hate the dark too.

CocoAndTheChocolates · 31/05/2018 23:24

Or a lava lamp? Is it time for them to come back round?!

Reaa · 31/05/2018 23:45

One of mine has a Lava Lamp

Two of mine have Electric plug in warmers, which have the added benefit of wax cubes so the bedrooms smell nice.

Reaa · 31/05/2018 23:53

the full range of warmers here

You can get the same things, cheaper else where.
I have only used the company above, so cant comment if the cheaper ones are any good or not.

Blueemeraldagain · 31/05/2018 23:54

I had a rope light for years as a teen!

llangennith · 01/06/2018 00:01

IKEA blue with white clouds bedside light from the kids department.

Timeissliplingaway · 01/06/2018 00:22

Maybe something like this. It has a speaker and Bluetooth.
