Newborn in car seat

How long can a new born spend in a car seat at a time? Seen conflicting information - from 30 mins to 2 hours! Also, how long do they need to be put before they can go back in again? So if we were on a 4 hour drive, could we stop for 30 mins half way and take her out?

TIA!

I'd plan at least two stops in that to be honest for feed/ change/ break to lie flat

Ds sleeps really well in his carseat, so when we are out and about I usually give him around 2 hours and keep an eye on him.
