16 months & doesn't wave or clap

Hi all - I'm an over thinker & worrier so I don't know whether to be concerned that my 16 month old boy dosen't wave or clap - the other babies in his ante natal group have been doing it since before they were 1! I've been trying for months to get him to do it!
He's walking & says mum and can put things in containers and even stacks rings which (I think) is good for his age? I just don't know whether to contact the HV or if I'd be wasting her time. Anyone have any stories about late clappers?!

Yes! My DS never did either. He’s 3 next month and can wave and clap just fine. I don’t remember when he eventually did it, but I do remember he didn’t at whatever check up he was supposed to. He obviously just had no interest in it (presumably because you have to be still)

Mine didn't either. He's three now and completely fine. I think he just couldn't see the point.

Does he point?

Thank you for taking the time to reply! He dosent point either!!! My neighbour has just been telling me how her daughter didn't clap till she was 2.
I know they do it all at different times but it starts to creep into your mind when all the other babies are doing things and he's last! On the other hand he throws a ball fantastically while his little friend doesn't yet.

Not quite the same but mine never, ever rolled over. She's 17 now and studying for A levels...I guess she just never felt the need! (She can roll over now! 😉)

Funmummy You made me snort into my cup of tea there - glad to hear she can roll over now Grin

I'd mention the not pointing to your health visitor, that;s quite an important milestone.
