Totsbots Fluffles - anyone had problems with poppers?

I've taken my first faltering steps into the world of washables, only to find my lovely new Fluffles are shedding poppers every time I wash them, my washing machine is like a snowstorm.

The Nappy Lady (where I bought them from) are happy to refund me claiming they must have a faulty batch. The question is should I re-order Fluffles again, am slightly wary of the same thing happening if they're from the same batch. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just unlucky?

TIA.

oh dear! thats not good is it! i am watching with interest as i have just stocked some - going to devle into one of my many carrier bags and boxes now to play with the poppers....

ProfYaffle · 18/05/2007 16:22

The really odd thing is that I have a total of 11 pairs of poppers which I've fished out of the machine but can only find 3 nappies with 1 pair of poppers each missing. I can't figure out what's going on!

nO that doesn't sound right at all.

I haven't any Tots with poppers but I have plenty of other brands of nappies and wraps with poppers and none have ever come loose let alone come off!

Must be faulty!

I prefer nippas or velcro to poppers myself, but I don't think you can get velcro on fluffles because of the material.

I think yours are faulty. I only have 2 fluffles but they've been washed loads in the month or so I've had them (probably 20 times) and all poppers are intact. I'd give them another try with a new batch - they're really good nappies imo.

ProfYaffle · 18/05/2007 16:47

it's good to hear yours are OK. I'm just concerned that if I get replacements from the same place, the chances are they're the same batch with the same problem.

I like the Fluffles too, even if dd2 does look like a weeble when she wears them!

When did you buy them? I had to wait a while for mine as Tots Bots were out of them. (I bought them via Flamesparrow) I wonder if the reason they went out of stock was because they'd identified a faulty batch. If that's the case then the new ones will be ok.

ProfYaffle · 18/05/2007 17:01

They only arrived a few days ago (it was during the initial pre wash the poppers fell out, dd2 hadn't even worn them at that point) so I guess are probably out of the new batch.

Ah, not good. I'd still stick with them if you like them. Maybe stress to The Nappy Lady that you're concerned the rreplacements might come from the same batch and you'd like assurances that they won't.

It's in the best interest of TNL that they keep you happy and they'll be claiming from Tots for the faulty ones anyway - I imagine if they've had other complaints they'll be returning their entire stock of fluffles to Tots.

theUrbanDryad · 18/05/2007 17:45

i got Fluffles too - and one of the liners' poppers came off the nappy and stuck to the liner (if that makes sense)...i could sew it back on, but i can't be arsed. apart from that though, the Fluffes are great!

ProfYaffle · 18/05/2007 17:50

Ooh, so not just me then. What to do, what to do, can't decide....

I wonder if they do nippa fluffles because that's the fastening I'd choose for preference if I was starting again (and if dh hadn't been so about clth at first).
Much more adjustable and nothing to come off!

Nippas are really easy to use, just takes a bit of practice but I don't know if the fluffle material is suitable for that.

ProfYaffle · 18/05/2007 20:14

That's a fab idea, just checked the website and they do a nippa version of the Fluffle.

It's a decision, I'll get the faulty ones replaces with fasten free Fluffles (try saying that quickly)

Thanks for your help.

It does sound like a faulty batch - I have never had a problem with them or had a problem reported.

If you call tots they are normally really good at swapping/fixing.... its their retailers they are a nightmare with!!!

ProfYaffle · 18/05/2007 20:41

I'm always unlucky in stuff like this! Still haven't figured out where the mystery spare poppers came from either, have counted and re-counted them on all the nappies. (obsessive? Moi?)

nappyzone · 18/05/2007 21:55

oh dear flame do i detect a problem tee hee . Knowing my luck i probably have the other faulty fluffles from the batch lol!

Flamesparrow · 18/05/2007 22:02

lol - so far so good for me, just horror stories from all other angles!!!

DaisyMOO · 19/05/2007 00:32

Are the extra poppers from the pop-in boosters? The Nappy Lady sells a huge number of Fluffles every week, so I doubt very much that you will get the same batch this time. The lady who runs the packaging unit is lovely and I would imagine that if you asked she would give the replacements a check over for any obvious problems with the poppers before she sends out replacements.

ProfYaffle · 19/05/2007 08:17

I've checked the boosters, it's not them. The nappies looked ok but it was only when I washed them that the poppers came off.

theUrbanDryad · 21/05/2007 17:04

they do do nippa fluffles, cause that's the type i use...

ProfYaffle · 21/05/2007 17:45

Are they OK? I'm planning on using them instead of the popper ones as I'm not convinced they can guarantee the new nappies won't be from the faulty batch.

OP posts:
Bagpuss30 · 21/05/2007 17:49

nippa ones are fine. I have one and have never had any problems with it.

ProfYaffle · 29/05/2007 17:34

Quick update - have sent my Fluffles back and Tots Bots just rang me, apparently there is a faulty batch, they've had loads sent back. They've been really nice and are sending out replacements but thought anyone using/selling Fluffles may find the info useful.

OP posts:
imamummy · 31/05/2007 19:44

I use the nippa fluffles too and much prefer them to my popper ones - but the popper ones are great too and I haven't had any problems though using them every day for 4 months. I agree it must have been the batch...
