My 3 year old has asked me to "show him" how to read. He has always loved his books and play reads them - making up stories from the pictures. He is learning his letters at nursery so we are doing that at home too but i have no idea how to go about teaching him to read.

How should i approach this?

Try your local library for some basic phonics books. Librarian should be able to point you in the right direction. If he goes to nursery/pre-school, they can also advise.

My DD learnt to read when she was 3. We lived overseas at the time and they used letterland to learn the letter names and sounds and then the songbirds phonics to start the reading process
