Routine..?

Hi all

When did your baby's establish a feeding routine, and general routine day/night?

I have a 6 weeks old who feeds anywhere from 2.5 - 4 hours.. and feeds 3 hourly through the night.. exclusively formula fed.

I know he's still tiny so I don't expect miracles and Im happy to follow his lead.. but just wondered when others settled in to a regular pattern? My first fed four hourly from the beginning so this is new to me..

Many thanks Smile

Ooo placemarking! My baby is 4 weeks old and feeds alllllthhheeetiiimmmeeee!! It's a nightmare trying to go out because as soon as he's fed and settled and I head for the door, he's ready for another feed!! Would love to know when I have a 2 hour window to nip to Tesco!

I still don't have a set in stone routine and my baby is six months old. Although I did sort of follow his lead and eventually he kind of settled into a flexible pattern around maybe ten to twelve weeks? He is breastfed and that meant that he always fed every three to four hours even through the night, apart from a brief period when he slept eight hours! Alas, no more...

Thanks both..I know he's still so young, and I'm fortunate to have a window of time!! I'm flexible to him and will continue to be - just a bit rigid with routines so would like to know that it will happen at some point 🙄 longer than 3 hours sleep on a night would also be fantastic! 😴

HAte to break it to you but some babies just don't do a routine.

DS is 11mo this week, admittedly BF, but i'm still lucky to get 3 hours sleep at a time.....

Until your baby is fully weaned and moved to one nap a day I think that even if they develop a little routine it's only a matter of weeks until something happens to change it. By14-15 months both if mine had a routine of meals, snacks, one afternoon nap, bedtime and an up time in the morning. Before then you have to wean, dp naps, crawl etc which all disrupt routines. That's not to say you can't have any sort of routine, just be prepared for it to all go to pot!

Three hourly through the night would be bliss :( Dd is 3 weeks and breastfeeds every hour and a half at night and 2-3 hours in the day it's killing me! Following in hope you get some helpful advice 😁
