What are your children paddying over today?

My DD (almost 2) didn't want to go in to the pram to toddler group so i let her walk. 5 mins from the house. After we left toddler group i took her to the shop for a treat. She then screamed because i only let her get one thing. She then fell over because she was paddying so much! Que a 5 minute walk that turned in to a 20 minute walk with constant screaming, throwing her self on the floor and demanding to be carried ( which i can't because of SPD). I was getting the most awful looks from people walking past and even one women stopped me. I told her off in the end which caused more screaming and paddying. She's now laid on the sofa with her blanket sulking and i feel like a bad mummy!

The other day, DS (will be 3 in July) was getting down on the floor at Home Depot because the toilet flapper we were buying was more maroon than bright red.

@Fevs not sure but it's still mentioned now and I'm 27 so I'm guessing it was quite a long time 😭😭

My little boy has a meltdown when he gets his hands wet when I wash them after eating etc

But is fine to jump in the paddling pool... 🤔

My eight year old DS had a tantrum over the fact I asked him to wear his denim jacket to school rather than his winter coat. It was going to be 20 degrees by midday. He thought he would be teased for wearing a denim jacket Hmm.

My youngest DD (5) simultaneously had a tantrum because I had chosen the ‘wrong’ school socks for her. Don’t even ask how that is possible... she seriously threw herself on the floor for ten minutes over it and when I forced them on her, pulled them back off again. She made us late and made the pregnant me cry.

Oh these make my life seem so much more normal! I am in an Asian country where people openly stop, look me up and down and cluck at me if my DD (18 months) so much as squeaks, so the full-on meltdowns are pretty stressful in public!

This morning she's gone to preschool so no tantrums yet, but yesterday she screamed for a solid 20 minutes because I wouldn't let her take all the spoons out of the drawer and put them in the cat bowl. The "consolation" spoon was thrown at my head with a "Mummy noooooo!" 37 weeks pregnant and over it Grin

We had a tantrum free day yesterday! Although she hit the health visitor because she wouldn't give DD her bag! Quick telling off and she was fine but the previous day we had tantrums constantly all day. A bird poo'd on her leg...que the biggest melt down with screaming "its a poo" "bird poo'd on me" for her to just calm down slightly and Grandma say "can you see that big bird?" Que half an hour of screaming about bird poo!

DS (4, you’d think he would be past the incomprehensible paddy stage) wanted to go down into the kitchen first at breakfast time. Daddy carried his sister down and they got there before him. Ffs.

Fond memories of wrestling reluctant kids into clothes they really don't want to wear. This sums it up nicely.

Joanner93 · 25/05/2018 20:47

Yep! My 4 year old tells me what he is wearing every day! If something is in the washing machine he has a major tantrum! Then as soon as it's dry he wants to wear it for bed and for days after.. obviously don't let him wear it for days but... sometimes give in to let him wearing it for bed! 😂😂

Fevs · 25/05/2018 21:04

@gussiefox that is hilarious and unfortunately so true to life
My 3 year old had a tantrum yesterday because I laughed!!!! ‘No funny face’ she repeatedly screamed at me
However, switch to today when she’s in a better mood - ‘funny face?’ Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

3 year old DD wasn't allowed to throw water down the dining room wall and I had to get baby up this morning, she wanted me to leaver her crying in her cot.
