Sun in their eyes- recommendations for sun blinds for car needed!

I have bought two sun shades for the car and both have still let the sun in to the extent that my children are being blinded by the car, it would be better just not to have them.

Please give me some recommendations of ones that actually work (links would help too!)

Thanks

This thread is a little old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for a car sunshade, we’ve recently updated our best car sunshades for babies and children page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Google window sox, just invested in some as the type of sun screen you describe we found to be rubbish. Window sox are great!

Sunglasses - if your dc are old enough to keep them on.

You can get fabric shades on amazon that fit right over the car door..looks like you’ve stretched a pair of tights over but work brilliantly and you can still open the window.

How are those fabric shades in the rain?
Do you take them off when it’s raining?
Does the water seep through the fabric into the inside of the car?

AngkorWaat · 20/05/2018 12:21

Yea I pop them off in the rain. Takes 2 secs. They don’t leak though when I’ve forgotten to take them off

on the same note - does anyone have a recommendation for extending sun visor for the 'shorter' driver Smile
I find the sun visor in my car is absolutely no good when the sun is low in the sky (morning or evening) particularly in winter.

sonypony · 20/05/2018 18:52

We used every one going and eventually had the back tinted.

Window sox definitely. Saving up to have my windows tinted but in the meantime they're very effective.

Echo the question about the sun visor though. Also a short arse and low sun is a PITA.
