My partner isn’t bonding with 9 week old

My partner has openly admitted he is not bonding with our 9 week old baby boy like he did with our other son.
It’s really getting me down. Everytime I look at my baby I feel really sorry for him that he doesn’t have a bond with his dad. My partner wants to bond with him and says he is trying but it’s not making any difference.
It’s really getting me down so any advice would be appreciated.

I would let things unfold in their own time, whilst giving him plenty of opportunities for being with the little one, like walks/time together whilst you have a rest. I think perhaps the excitement of being a dad first time around has worn off, but that doesn' tmean he won't connect with his second son over time.

It will be fine. With DC3 DP didn't really seem to bond with him much until about 5 months. The older DC were easier for them to spend time with and more interesting I guess, and he didn't have the natural hormonal bond I had, it needed time to build. He adores him now.
