We also sing the Irish Safe Cross Sode song. I still remember it after all these years (I have a very strange memory) and am teaching dd it.

If Dh & I should go for a bit of tufty, we are not talking about crossing the road. I usually tuft him senseless

I don't do the left/right thing as such - just say to look both ways and check again, and keep checking when crossing the road. No parked cars, use crossings where available, etc.
