11 day old projectile vomiting

Our 11 day old son had projectile vomited this evening everywhere! He didn’t have a huge feed from me earlier, I would say about half an hour. He settled for about 45 minutes and then suddenly without warning just projectile vomited. He has no temperature and wanted to feed again straight away. Online says it could be Pyloric stenosis. Anyone else had this with their newborns? Should I be worried? Shall I just keep an eye or go to the hospital...

DD projectile vomited at something like 6 days old. We were still in hospital and she was being force fed a formula top up by a midwife which must have irritated her stomach (I now know she has a dairy allergy so not surprising).

The midwife wasn't concerned.

My feeling is that one projectile vomit isn't too worrying. If he ejects the next feed I'd definitely seek help though. You can't be too careful with newborns so if you feel worried phone 111 or perhaps the postnatal ward for advice.

I’d just keep an eye if he’s otherwise ok in himself. Dd did this at about 2 weeks and it was the start of her reflux sickness. She was what they call ‘a happy chucker’ she didn’t have pain or anything but would projectile vomit ALOT. She was absolutely fine though, just loads and loads of washing!

He seems fine in himself, he doesn’t have a temperature and straight after being sick he wanted to be fed again and latched straight away. He didn’t want to be put down to sleep so I’ve had him cuddling me for the last hour. He did bring milk back up after the next feed but not projectile vomit at all. He is having wet nappies but not a lot of dirty nappies so I’m hoping he isn’t dehydrated! So hard to know what to do 😕

Hi OP. My daughter projectile vomited a lot at that age. It turned out she had reflux. She would projectile vomit 5-6 times a day sometimes. It might be worth looking in to if there are any other symptoms or it's a recurring thing.

Keep trying to offer milk, little and often, and go to the gp to see if you can get some gaviscon. It worked wonders for my dd.
