When did you change from carrycot to seat unit on pram?

With all the nice weather we've been having I was wondering if DDs too young to put in the seat unit of the pram at 2 months old (or over the next few weeks). She loves looking out and much prefers being in her car seat on the pram than the carrycot but i dont like using the carseat for too long. We've got an icandy orange and was thinking if we tip the seat back a bit so she's not too upright would it be ok? Or am I being completely ridiculous at her age?

You can buy newborn wedges for the seat unit that makes it more suitable for a newborn.

When they could sit unaided, so 5months for dc1, 7-8 months dc2.
I think its too early for your baby.

We used the car seat part almost exclusively as she hated the pram bit. In saying that, I didnt use the buggy that much. Moved her at 5 months.

My DS is very long/tall so outgrew his carrycot at around 3 months. We have an uppababy Vista and the seat goes flat plus we bought an insert from uppababy so it was more supported for him. I wouldn't have moved him so early unless I had to though.

Not until 7 months for my youngest .
When she could sit unaided .
6 months for the eldest

4 months just quite reclined

samidolls · 09/05/2018 17:05

I've been wondering the same, we have the icandy peach and my LO is almost filling his carrycot, and is super nosey!

We've bought a Diono cuddle soft to put in the pram seat to cushion his head/neck.

We tried it out just in the house the other day but the shoulder straps are still quite loose on him!

DDs really long too so her carrycot will be a no go soon. I'll get the seat unit out and have a proper look at it, i didnt know about the inserts so I'll have a look thanks

Some pram seats are from birth. Ours was. I stopped using the carrycot at 6 weeks as my LO hated it.

Belleende · 09/05/2018 18:22

Mine hated the bassinet. Cried every time we went out. I bought the new born insert (non branded, waaaaay cheaper) for the Uppababy vista and the pram is now one of her favourite places. She has been in there from 3 months

With DS1 we moved him just before he was 3 months, as he was so so so grumpy in the carrycot. DS2 however is 11 weeks and I can't imagine moving him into it next week, he still seems fine in the carrycot and doesn't quite seem to be sturdy enough yet.

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 09/05/2018 20:17

Moved DD into her seat unit at 4 months, she hated not being able to see out of the carrycot and was constantly doing crunches trying to sit up. She had good head control and was much happier in the seat. Not sure I would have moved her up as young as 2 months though.

I’ve got the iCandy Orange too and we put DD in the pushchair seat at 6 months. It’s a great pushchair/pram! Just ordered the second seat for DS age 3.

happymummy12345 · 09/05/2018 20:25

We waited until the advised 6 months.

MerryDeath · 09/05/2018 20:26

my baby loathed the carrycot he wouldn't go in the pram until we swapped seats he probably wasn't more than 2 months old. i used rolled up muslins as sausages to wedge him in position and all of a sudden he tolerated the pram.

shitmother123 · 09/05/2018 21:25

I wouldn't, purely because I find they get sweaty in the seats with seatbelts on and have more breathing space in a carry cot. Also so you at least get some use out of it! The orange is very expensive and a good sized carrycot I would use for as long as I could

Desmondo2016 · 09/05/2018 22:09

We did (with quinny newborn wedge) at about 15 weeks.
