Weaning my baby off being rocked

DS is 3 months old, he sleeps in his bouncer for day time naps and we use our feet to rock him to sleep. Unfortunately he has become accustomed to this and now he will not fall asleep unless he's rocked either in the bouncer (and then transferred to his cot when asleep) or in our arms but he's over 15lb now so its becoming a bit hard.

We also use white noise and ewan as sleep associations and he has a muslin as a comforter which he fiddles with before he nods off.

Any tips on weening him off the bouncer / rocking?

He's still very young and you've got the joys of teething and sleep regressions to come. You're only just coming to the end of the fourth trimester..

We still rock and cuddle 10 month DS as needed. He's over 24 lb now.

I wouldn't stop something so comforting that young. Enjoy it while you can.

Can you get a rocking chair to make it easier? I wouldn’t be bothered with trying to stop now. I’ve really never heard of a baby this age who just magically self settles without rocking or feeding to sleep. My ds is 11 weeks and really easy as babies go (my first was not easy!) and I still feed, hold, push or wear him to sleep. In fact, he’s napping in my arms as I type this. It’s totally normal for babies this age and if it works, I would enjoy it and make the most of it. It won’t always work and you’ll figure out what does when that time comes.

He’s a bit young to withdrawer comfort. I’d keep at it till you’ve got teething out of the way.

This is what babies are like.

We rocked our twins and cuddled them to sleep til 13 months. Yeah they were heavy and it was a pain etc but they were happy and had minimal issues with us stopping and reading stories etc instead at 13 months. Felt like that's when they were ready.
