Hi,
First time poster, but I've been lurking for a few days and have found some of the debates very insightful and informative and would like to request the benefit of your experience and advice - so apologies if this is in the wrong thread.
OH and I have one child of reception age. We have come to the decision to extend our family.
I would love to have another biological child while OH would like to adopt. I am happy with this idea, although would prefer the child to be as young as possible - for many reasons, but primarily I realise that an older child will need as much attention and support as possible, which I feel would conflict with having a young child ourselves who also requires the same.
I realise that adopting children of all ages comes with many different issues, not least not necessarily knowing a medical history.
Also, from my (very) brief research, I have seen that LAs are unlikely to place babies which require adoption with families who already have children.
I would be very interested in learning about these issues from your own experience (personal or professional).
Would we be better off considering adoption when DC is older? I am also aware that I am nearing my 40s so conception itself may become more of an issue as I get older.
Thank you for your help.
