Issue with Grandad (porn related)

Hello, I need some advice on how to handle this situation. To cut a long story short, I caught my father in law watching soft porn on the living room television whilst babysitting my infant son. He was fully clothed and my son was crawling around the floor. I’d only just left but returned because I forgot my keys. I’ve never previously had any concerns and I’m in complete shock. I took my son and left. There was no apology or embarrassment on my father in laws behalf. My husband works away and I’ve not yet had a chance to speak with him. What to do?

What a horrible thing for him to do when babysitting his own grandchild. I would keep him at arm’s length and tell your DH why.

Toasttea · 30/04/2018 22:05

Oh my god really? Your going to have to speak to your DH about this. No I wouldn’t let him look after my child after that.

Terrible behaviour. He’s a grown man, gage should know better. Does he think it’s acceptable for a small child to see it?

I wouldn’t wait for your OH to deal with it. I woukd broach the subject myself. You did the right thing.

You say soft porn. Was it a sex scene in a tv programme or was it actual pornography?

gingerbreadbiscuits · 07/05/2018 22:07

A child been allowed to watch porn is sexual abuse.

I would not allowed him to look after my child again.

Same question as jelly - soft porn or sex scene in film?

FelicityMorange · 08/05/2018 10:35

Is your child old enough to see what was on the telly or is he a baby?

Maybe your father-in-law was just channel surfing and a sex scene caught his eye. If he'd been watching actual porn I'd have expected embarrassment from him.

Just trying to think of innocent explanations.

Is he usually a bit creepy?

Wildlingofthewest · 08/05/2018 10:40

It was in your house, right? So what exactly was he watching - was it actual porn (in which case, had he paid for this? How had he got it up on your tv?) or was it just a sex scene on a tv show/film?
