Fuzzi Bunz or Bum Genius v2.0?

Looking to invest into washables, and quite excited about it

I was lent some small FB which were stuffed with pre-folds. I did like them but I will need a medium.
Whilst researching I have seen that Bum Genius v2.0 has had good reviews.

A few questions:

  1. What do people stuff their FB with? (hemp/microterry insert, prefold etc)
  2. Do you have a preference on what you prefer and why?
  3. Of those that have BG are you finding that the velcro lasts (i.e. will they last more than one child)

Any opinions much appreciated

TIA

I stuff my fuzzis with pad folded terries and find that they will last my ds about 4 hrs. I think he is a heavy wetter as if he is in disposibles he needs changing that often. I haven't tried the bumgenius, I've heard mixed reviews from people about them. I do like my fuzzis though. Just make sure the fit round the leg is perfect otherwise they will leak.

I use FB, which I bought second hand.

I stuff them with the microterry insert because that is what they came with

They are okay, but a bit prone to leaks. they are fine for a while, then go through a leaky patch, then stop leaking again.

No good for night times!

I havent tried bg due to mixed reviews also, fuzzis i stuff with microterry or ellas hemp and get longer with hemp and its a thinner fit /less bulkier. Happy Heiny are my fave though and drybees are good too - both aplix which i just find easier - dont know bout wearability for a subsequent child and i have no intention of finding out! I love pockets and aparently my wee notions will arrive tomoorw! yippee!!!!!!!

My Fuzzis are on their second child now and still going strong I stuff them with a Wonderfulls hemp two piece insert.

mum2JRC · 15/05/2007 09:10

I must admit my preference so far has been Fuzzi's. I was going to get the wonderfulls hemp or micro-terry insert to go with them

Snugglebumnappies- how long does the hemp insert take to dry? Is it that much longer than a micro-terry.

BG velcro will last OK but the problem is that your child will be able to undo them at a young age. My DDtook hers off from months old.

I would go for poppers over velcro if I was to buy more nappies, maybe swaddlebees.

snugglebumnappies · 15/05/2007 09:41

The wondefulls hemp inserts are quite slim and come in two pieces poppered together so don't take too long to dry 4 hours ish on a moderate (not sunny) day. The micro terry ones are virtually dry when they come out of the washer having been spun, but have never stood uo to my LO's weeing capabilities

I have both and stuff with large FB microfibre inserts. I put two in the fuzzis and with the BG I just fold over the BG insert at the front (I have a boy) and then add a FB insert behind it. The BG are slightly more reliable but there isn't much in it.

mum2JRC · 15/05/2007 09:49

My DS is a heavy wetter, so looks like hemp will be better

Another vote here for Fuzzis. Not keen on the BG. Not quite as good a fit (but then it is BTP). Plus, as BabiesEverywhere said, babies learn to undo velcro very quickly.
