Poo in the bed!! Yuck

Not sure if to post here or in behaviour!
To set the scene - DS 25mo moved into his cotbed as a bed 2 weeks ago and has been fine. Wakes up and potters, coming in to us when he wants. But twice he has taken off his PJ bottoms in the morning and smeared poo down his legs and made quite a mess...I'm sure it isn't just a leak because it isn't on his pj bottoms. Anyone else had this? OR is it just us...

yes - we've experienced this. It's not nice is it. It co-incided with her moving into the big bed, and the arrival of her little sister, so a few changes in her life. The first couple of times it happened I was so shocked I didn't say anything to her, just cleaned her up. When it continued to happen, I made it very clear to her that it was not acceptable behaviour. And we always made sure she was never alone in her room, and didn't give her the opportunity to do it.

She potty trained very easily at the age of 23 months, and after this, we didn't have a problem.

I think she did it out of boredom - attention seeking behaviour maybe. It was a very stressful couple of months, not helped because it's something that we didn't really want to talk to anyone about.

No - I wasn't too keen to post, but thought we can't be the only ones. It seems ashame as I was quite enjoying his pottering in the morning, hearing him playing in his room or reading a book, but now the minute he is up we are in there like a shot. Anyway hope it won't happen again. Thanks

I've known of a couple of children who have done this, and both times it was boredom/ curiosity. You need to explain to your DS that you don't like him doing it - and try and get into his room quickly in the morning, before he has a chance to do it.

DS did this about three times, but it was always during his afternoon nap

The most memorable time which i posted about at the time was when he stuffed poo inside his Bob the Builder "Dizzy" cement mixer to make "cement"

I did rofl even though it was quite disgusting

I think we started PT not long after and his curiosity seemed to wear off.

I think if you want to avoid it you might have to shoot out of bed as soon as you hear him up for a few weeks

Does he always poo in the morning?

I don;t think it's anything to worry about, just an exploratory phase

He didn't used to poo in the am but has doen for the last 2-3 weeks.
I have kept him in popper vests to try to stop because we did have a nappy off incident when he was in his cot some time ago.
Perhaps I'll try potty training again. W did before but showed no interest what so ever. Would sit down and then go and wee in the corner...
