Awful toddler haircut

My 2 year old went for a trim, he has very straight thin hair and looked like a scarecrow so i just wanted a tiny tidy round the edges. Instead he got a very aggressive short crew cut with a bowl head shape at the top. It's so awful, im so upset about it (over the top so) i know its only hair. I know it will grow. I know i will look back and laugh but right now i am so embarrassed to take him out and upset he looks so silly.

Only looking for some solidarity, i know already how ridiculous it is to be upset about some hair, hes not hurt or ill. But i am feeling rubbish and wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and can console me!!

Pretend he’s working as an extra on Peaky Blinders 😂

DS2 is a bigger for cutting his own fringe. It’s always wonky and looks frankly deranged. DD is beautiful but no matter what I do her hair looks like she was dragged through a bush backwards.

DP cut DS' hair recently and he looked ridiculous. A tiny bit of gel makes a big difference, can highly recommend it!

I decided to cut DS's hair when he was 2. Turns out it's more difficult than YouTube made it look and he ended up with a mullet quite a lot like this.

The best thing is that toddler are adorable and can manage to look cute even with stupid hair.

When my dd was about 2 a little trim resulted in about 3 inches off and a choir boy haircut. I was devastated, she's 9 now and it allowed back to a hairdressers but it did teach me to cut my own childrens hair until they were school age.

Did you manage to get money off? Surely you asked them to fix it before you left? Is it because he didn’t sit still? I used to move a lot at that age so they gave me a quick stupid haircut to get the job done

Sukhino24 · 25/04/2018 08:18

I was at the front so didnt see what she was doing. (I trusted them doh!) and then i left as in a hurry and wasnt till i got home i saw the full problem at the back!!!
Do you think it will grow out quick??

Did you tell the stylist what you wanted? If not they probably gave him a short cut so that it will last a while.

Sukhino24 · 25/04/2018 12:47

I did. A trim and a tidy up. Leaving it long. I he did not get this sadly.
Not sure if i should let it grow out or go and have it fixed which means going shorter!!!

We had this happen before we had family pictures taken. The problem was, my 16 month old DD was squirming while the stylist was trying to cut her hair. If the kid squirms and makes the stylist cut their hair unevenly, the only solution is to cut more off on the other side to match it.

Some toddlers also cut their own hair. I think bad haircuts are just part of the toddler experience.

Thanks everyone. He sat good as gold so still so there was no excuse but poor craftmanship on this one. Today i took him up the road to the ladies botique and they fixed it for me. They feathered the long bits to reduce the helmet head and it looks so so so much better - just like a v short haircut. Worth goong to ask someone else if there is anythibg that can be done.
I asked her to go so slowly and explain everything to me. So neurotic!
It'll be a long long time before anyone goes near him with sissors ever again!!!!

I could have wrote this! Haircut was horrendous... ended up sending dh and ds to fancy specialist kids salon to have it fixed lol
