Will he ever sleep through?

Please help...my 6m old DS has suddenly stopped waking up once each night for a feed and now wakes at least 3 times demanding milk. He's a big ,healthy, contented lad and is also eating well during the day. I've established a bedtime routine with a bath/bottle etc and he always goes to sleep well after a feed but it's just this frequent waking which I can't understand. I know it's early days but my DH works away from home during the week and I have a 4yr old DD who is a light sleeper (and an early riser)so I'm feeling weary... Any advice gratefully received.

my DS (almost 11mths) has slept through 3 or 4 times, but started waking again frequently and drinking a ridiculous amount of milk at night.

Last night i was firm and only allowed him very, very diluted milk. When he woke the first time it took 1 hr and 15mins to settle him again. The second time he woke it took 45mins. It was hard work, but i managed it.

I think it becomes a vicious circle- they drink loads at night, and less then in the day than they would otherwise. DS has drunk loads this morning, aswell his food.

Roll on tonight for night 2 of mean Mammy refusing milk!

What milk are you giving him, have you tried one of the hungry baby milks? Could he teething??

If he eats plenty during the day, he may not need more than one night feed, if at all. Do all other attempts to soothe him back to sleep fail? Have you just started weaning? Maybe you need to adjust the milk/solids balance during the day - don't drop any daytime milk feeds for a couple of months yet.

He will sleep through eventually, but that might be for quite a while yet. My ds didn't start regularly sleeping through until he was past his first birthday, although I could usually soothe him back to sleep without needing to feed him.

My DS never slept through until 11 months. I try everything short of cc (which I don't personally agree with).

He started to sleep through after he became much more active - crawling, walking etc. I think he just wasn't physically tired enough before, I think.

sorry - should have read, I TRIED everything.

my sympathies - my 8m little girl still isn't sleeping through yet either - one sister did at about 10 weeks adn the other was well past about 1

My 9 mth old was waking like clockwork at 5am until I moved him into his own room. Since then he has slept until 8am and we feel like we have our lives back!!!

He's on the milk for hungry babies and always has been. Breast fed initially, but couldn't satisfy his hunger so switched to bottle feeding and both of us felt much happier instantly. He has just produced two teeth but hasn't been particularly disturbed by this - he's always very placid and calm (except at 10:30 at night and 2:00ish and around 5:00am)!!!! Have tried leaving him - though admittedly not for long as I worry about him waking his DS leaving me with two to get off to sleep.

My 7 month old is doing the exact same thing! No help I'm afraid but know exactly where you're coming from - DH working abroad and 2n half yr old waking often for a wee.....very tiring. I will admit to taking the path of least resistance and just feeding him when he wakes as that gets him back to sleep quickest. Probably not the best plan long term though, Especially as i'm expecting DC 3 in October!!!
