Did I do the right thing?

I went to the shop with my son after preschool and he saw a numberblocks magazine. I said he could have it even though it was expensive. He then went and found a Spider-Man magazine while I looked through the numberblocks magazine. He wanted the Spiderman magazine as well so I said he could have it instead as I had realised the numberblocks one was way too basic and they were the same price. He said numbers are better than Spider-Man. I tried to tell him he would be bored with the numberblocks but he wanted maths. I sent him to find juice and got the Spiderman one. I know he will enjoy it more, it will last 100x longer, and it's more worth the money. But now I'm questioning whether I should have just let him get the other one and be disappointed later?
