Don’t know what to do!

Hi need some reassurance that I’m doing ok!
My dd is 4 weeks old and I’m struggling with feeding and sleeping . I’m breastfeeding and she gets one bottle of formula around 8/10 at night by my dh to let me sleep for a bit.

But she doesn’t sleep for longer than 30 minuets at a time and she goes hours without sleeping sometimes like this morning her last sleep was at 6 till 6.30 and she’s been awake since she’s obviously so tired but she won’t give in. She’s feeding constantly but constantly gets angry and bobs her head about

Could be reflux. Is she better when held up?

See your GP about it. If it is reflux there is medication.

They’re so difficult to read when they’re tiny. If she’s bobbing around then something is making her cross, but it could be anything!
Is her latch good? Are you getting sore at all? Sometimes they get cross because the milk is flowing too fast and they’re drowning - you could try feeding in different positions and see if it makes a difference maybe?
Conversely, sometimes they get cross because the milk isn’t flowing fast enough.
Are you looking after yourself and getting enough to eat and drink?
She’s definitely been awake for too long, would she sleep if you go out in the car or for a walk maybe?
Is there a breastfeeding support group near you? Have you looked at the Kellymom website - that might have some ideas.
You’re doing grand. It’s a tricky age, but it gets better!

Thanks for the replies I think she may have slight reflux mentioned it to the health visitor but she wasn’t very helpful. I have tried co sleeping she doesn’t settle any better there either

Latch is good I haven’t experienced any pain. I don’t feel it’s to fast as I never leak or get the very full feeling I feel like they run out ? Don’t know if that’s even possible she feeds so frequently and she is putting weight on. I live rurally and don’t have the car during the day I managed to get her to sleep for 30 minutes in the sling when going to pick my ds up from school.

Feeding very frequently is normal. If you are experiencing no pain and she is gaining weight then I would be too concerned on that front.

I found sleep breeds sleep at that age. So if her daytime sleep is better then she will likely sleep better at night (although perhaps only if cosleeping/being fed laying on her side in bed). For she seems fussy and bobbing on and off the boob and not feeding properly i would straight away pop her in the sling with a dummy and keep moving. Aim for her to have no more than 1-2hrs awake time at that age.
