Breastfed my eldest two for a year each. Stopped the eldest one because I was hoping to get pregnant again soon (and I was, a month later!), stopped my second one because I needed steroids for my asthma and my GP said (and I quote!!) - "do you not think you have breastfed long enough?"!!! Same thing happened with my DS, but I was older and wiser and said no, and battled through it. He self-weaned at 20 months and I was devastated!!!

Just stopped at 10 months, although they were showing less and less interest so it was more their decision than mine.

I moved both of mine onto scheduled daytime feeds (approx every 2 hours) rather than feeding on demand at about 4 months (mainly when they started chewing their hands for teething/exploration so I found it hard to tell when they were hungry). I still fed them on demand when they woke up at night.
With my first I think this helped cut down the feeds as he was used to me offering at specific times rather than him asking if that makes sense. I kept the morning feed longest and then one morning just took him downstairs and gave him breakfast instead of breastfeeding and he didn't seem bothered at all. This was at just under a year.
My second (now 8 months) may be a bit trickier I think - I'm doing the same scheduled feeds for him, about 4 x daily plus night feeds, and it works fine but he's having a bit of trouble with constipation if I try to cut down the breastfeeds so I can see I may end up feeding him longer. I am quite fed up with it though - def ready to stop now!

Fed my ds until he was 2 - no problems stopping at all when I was ready to.

Currently feeding my 11 week old dd. I'd like to feed her for at least a year and don't want to feed her for more than 2 years!
