London Marathon with baby

Nope I'm not pushing my baby round the route.
We're going to London next weekend to watch my husband do the race.
Am I crazy to take the buggy?
My son is too heavy to take in the sling all day.
Does anybody know of any pushchair friendly vantage points?

I really would like to see him but I can't just have the sling all day. I need to take the pushchair really but mindful of crowds, getting around, all the steps etc

Help!!

Could you get a back carrier from the sling library? How old and heavy is your baby?

I did the LM a few years back and most of the route is rammed and a complete no go with a buggy. You'd never get near enough to the barrier to see your husband.

I would head out to Docklands which is by far the least populated part of the route. It's near the end as well when most runners are struggling so I'm sure he'll be pleased to see you. The DLR is probably easier than the tube with a buggy too.

Also try posting on the Runners World forum or do a search on there - I'm sure that'll get you some great advice.

We're heading to Canada Water to watch around there. DH went last year with friends with a 6 month old and a 2 yr old and was fine. There is a lift at the station. He said he thinks we'll be fine with buggy. The route is nearer rotherhithe but there's no lift there and Canada Water is so close.

He's 10 months
Too small for the backpack type carrier unfortunately.
@Seahawk80 I was thinking there. Have you heard about the potential train strike

Hi Op, I haven't- will check it out. If you need an alternative around the end of Deptford High Street is usually pretty quiet. Ugly part of the route though!
