Toddler Running question

Just a small question really, but i figured it was better to ask here than mull it over to myself -

My dd will be 3 in June and i always notice when she runs that it is still very much the uncordinated, legs-flailing run of a young toddler. Should she be a bit more “together” by now? This has probably come to my mind now because she seems to be going through a very clumsy stage - constantly tripping over or banging into furniture just recently.

I have no other concerns about her development, she’s very able verbally and with fine motor skills, it is just gross motor skills i am not sure whether i should be raising with someone (hv? Gp?) can someone tell me their’s is/was the same ar this age? Thank you Smile

My 6 year old still runs like that. Sports day last year was hilarious

Aww, that’s lovely - i can just picture it (and my own future sports days).

A growth spurt might explain a sudden bout of clumsiness?

I think it's completely normal at that age.

However, about the clumsiness, I was reading a book about a different topic and it said that most parents who think their children are clumsy see it as something you cannot change, when actually most children can improve a lot through general practice and, in some cases, specific exercises.

My dc2 is also a bit clumsy (and very flat footed) and I have decided I will focus on her gross motor skills through play for a while because, even though it's not something too obvious or problematic, I think, given the choice, everybody would prefer not to be clumsy and it's worth the effort.

I am 34 and still run like that. Not all of us are built for speed.

My DD was like it was poor upper and lower body co-ordination
