How can I make the holidays fun for older siblings with a newborn?

My baby is due just before the summer holidays so it will be chaos. My 6 year old DS has worked hard all year and deserves to have some fun in the holidays! What can I do to make it fun for him while trying to survive constant feeding and sleepless nights? I also have a 4 year old but he hasn't started school yet so not such a big deal for him. Any ideas? We have tried to do lots of fun things this holiday to compensate.

Plan things where you can go out and they can have fun, but there is a space and a time for you to do lots of sitting with baby. I'm doing it now, have a 7 week old and have been home with my school age dd for the past week for Easter holidays. We've gone to the children's farm, bowling, playground, lunches out, a museum. We're probably going to the beach and the aquarium this weekend if the weather is okay enough. In the summer, it should be easier with better weather. It's been tough with all the rain. But babies just come along and you just need a quiet place to sit for a feed now and then and something to keep older ones entertained for a bit before you can carry on doing what you were doing. I've found it has been so much easier than I expected. A wrap is helpful for you to be hands free.

I do have a wrap. Am hoping it will be good weather so we can live at the park!

Just take the baby along with you.
