Can't find nice clothes for DD age 5...

Any ideas? I find loads of them stereotypical or tacky, like pink and sequins and all that rubbish.

Where do you get your young girls clothes from? I used to buy the odd Frugi bit but funds don't allow anymore.

Zara kids?

glorious · 09/04/2018 12:25

I got some nice cactus print stuff from next the other day. I generally find with all the high st stuff you h to order online to avoid the pink.

Never thought of Zara, thank you!

Boden and Gap

RedDice · 09/04/2018 12:26

Jojo mama Bebe
M and s
Some nice bits in h and m and Sainsbury’s

I have to pick stuff up as I come across it- used to love next stuff for dd but now she’s in the older age stuff it’s not what I’m looking for at all

HollyBollyBooBoo · 09/04/2018 12:30

Boden, Joules and M&S autograph - all second hand on eBay. I like quite traditional clothes in primary colours though.

BubblesAndSquarks · 09/04/2018 12:32

boden, gap and m&s probably have the sort of thing you're wanting.

My oldest is 5 and shes got a lot of glittery/pink/rainbow stripes clothes now, it's not my preference but its what she wants to wear so I tend to let her pick a good amount of her clothes herself as we clearly have different taste! Grin

H&M tends to be a good place for her to choose things that aren't too tacky looking but that she likes.

Xansaf · 09/04/2018 12:33

JoJo, Next and the supermarkets are my go-to places.

AlishaMary · 09/04/2018 12:42

There’s plenty of nice stuff in Next. Not always instore though. Also they do lovely bright boys stuff which would be equally suitable for girls.

huginamugwankinapacket · 09/04/2018 12:48

I've been scrolling on Next for about an hour and can't see much I like that isn't sold out :( I also don't like slogans and Next have a lot of slogan stuff!

Oh wow, the dresses in M&S are beautiful!

Definitely Zara. H & M too but not fantastic quality. John Lewis. Jacadi for something special that no-one else will have. Petit Bateau.

MissMarplesKnitting · 09/04/2018 12:55

Mix and match but Sainsbury's, m&s, and Asda have some super basics too.

Yes some is glittery tat but DD does like the occasional glittery item I relent to.

bumpy12345 · 09/04/2018 12:56

La Redoute have some lovely bits

Shadow1986 · 09/04/2018 12:57

My 6 year old has some really nice bits from M&S - probably my favourite for her at the moment.

Beamur · 09/04/2018 12:59

I shop at most of the above too, but would also throw in Lands End (online shop) their plain basics are really good quality and I like some of the patterned/embellished stuff. Design wise, I'd say it's inbetween Boden and Next.

LBOCS2 · 09/04/2018 13:01

Boden, Gap (always a 40% off code kicking around), supermarkets - particularly Sainsbury's, H&M. I've got a redhead so deliberately avoid pink; these are my go-to shops.

DeleteOrDecay · 09/04/2018 13:07

I really like Sainsburys for my 5yo. Sometimes Asda but it's hit and miss, and I've also been looking at HnM lately.

My dd loves pink sparkly stuff so I do relent and let her choose some items but if she had it totally her way everything in her wardrobe would be pink and sparkly and tacky and I know that whilst she does like the colour pink, she also needs to see that nice clothes come in many colours.

RedDice · 09/04/2018 13:09

Yy to joules
Also to add Boots clothes are nice for girls nice variety of colours and patterns

BikeRunSki · 09/04/2018 13:10

Jojomaman currently have some of their “original” designs (Breton striped cotton tops and dresses) at 1993 prices, to celebrate their 26th anniversary.

I also struggle with girls stuff, but have had a lot of success with Gap recently.

crumble82 · 09/04/2018 13:40

To add another one, FatFace have some nice girls stuff too.

GrouchyKiwi · 09/04/2018 13:45

H&M has a great range of colours. I tend to get things like cardigans and pinafores from JoJoMamanBebe and then things that get ruined easily like leggings, t-shirts and day dresses from H&M because they're great value for money. The £3 dresses are my favourite.

Glassofredandapackofcrisps · 09/04/2018 13:49

What on earth is wrong with glittery and pink for little girls???

QuietNinjaTardis · 09/04/2018 13:50

There are a lot of secondhand selling sites for Frugi on Facebook. So you can buy nice bits that aren’t
Full price.

Greenglassteacup · 09/04/2018 13:51

Zara
Mini boden
SOME stuff from H&M ( you have to rummage)
John Lewis
