Can't find nice clothes for DD age 5...

Any ideas? I find loads of them stereotypical or tacky, like pink and sequins and all that rubbish.

Where do you get your young girls clothes from? I used to buy the odd Frugi bit but funds don't allow anymore.

What on earth is wrong with glittery and pink for little boys???

Puzzle that one over glassofred and you'll be on the right track.

CircleofWillis · 09/04/2018 13:53

Polarn o Pyret has gorgeous hard wearing clothes for that age.

huginamugwankinapacket · 09/04/2018 13:54

Lol, bingo @Glassofredandapackofcrisps

Don't comment if you can't answer the damn question, I wasn't looking for a debate.

Thanks for all the people who have given awesome suggestions, I've got so many tabs open on my computer- this is going to take a while!

Zara, H&M, Debenhams and Tu at Sainsbury’s.

It’s worth noting that Sainsbury’s gets new stuff in regularly so if you see something you like buy it before it disappears. If there isn’t anything you like try again in six weeks.

Eggzandbacon · 09/04/2018 14:00

A mix of Sainsbury’s, M&S and fat face. I get the odd bit from Debenhams but only online as selection instore is dreadful.

I don’t buy slogan tshirts either

DD is now wearing age 10-11 it’s even worse, stuff is horrible

PinkCalluna · 09/04/2018 14:01

Oh yes Fat face too and their things wash really well they look good for ages.

Eggzandbacon · 09/04/2018 14:04

I particularly go to Fat Face for shorts (and their tshirts do keep their shape very well)

malaguena · 09/04/2018 14:04

Verbaudet? I find French brands much better, more colour options, less glitter, good quality. I love Little Green radicals as well, they have sales on regularly and you can buy second hand, the quality is great so their clothes last well.

chocolatesun · 09/04/2018 14:06

I love Polarn O Pyret

KatharinaRosalie · 09/04/2018 14:09

Villervalla, Polarn o Pyret, Duns and Maxomorra have proper children's clothes, with bright colours and kids' themes. Not a glittery princess or 'dude' in sight. Plus excellent quality.

thethoughtfox · 09/04/2018 14:16

Zara stuff is lovely. They always do little t shirts that are cheap and wash well. I like Next stuff but everyone is always wearing the same things.

LBOCS2 · 09/04/2018 14:20

I like Zara but find their sizing a bit hit and miss - I've got 12-18mo stuff that swamps my 2yo, and 5-6 things that my 5yo was out of at 5y2mo. They're both usually pretty true to size in other shops.

HeyMicky · 09/04/2018 14:26

Anyone vote for Vertbauder/La Redoute

Also the flash sale sites Zulily and PatPat have lovely stuff from small brands at discounted prices

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 09/04/2018 14:28

I've actually managed to find quite a few nice girl bits in Tesco. Lots of blues, yellows, whites and greys.
And yes to Zara.

Heatherbell1978 · 09/04/2018 14:34

My daughter is younger than yours and most of her wardrobe is Jojo, Boden and Next with a smattering of Mothercare. I like more traditional clothes like pinafores and stripes and she pretty much wears navy all the time. I find it quite easy to buy non-pink clothes.

huginamugwankinapacket · 09/04/2018 14:42

I should say that she is 6 in August but has shot up recently and is in 6-7 and 7-8 depending on the shop. I love Next up to age 5-6 but beyond that it seems far too grown up in style for her. She's very slim, there's nothing on her, so she has to wear extra skinny jeans and things like that. She also doesn't like tops with no arms because she's slim and gets cold easily. It makes shopping a bit trickier but usually I'll buy her cardigans to wear with short-sleeve tops now and she's started to accept that.

I am sad to discover that JoJo only go up to 6 years too- boooo!

I was gutted each time my children grew out of Jojo! I also agree that Next stuff isn’t great over 5 - sane fir boys and girls.

There was a brief, glorious time wfrb Seasalt did children ‘s clothes. They were fabulous, although I notice they’ve started doing kid size Breton T’s again.

gryffen · 09/04/2018 15:00

Our daughter is 3 but due to her height takes a 4-5/5-6 in T shirts and trousers etc.

I love Primark for her everyday clothes and she barely has glitter or slogans on her tops but they wash so well for nursery etc.

For fancier stuff it's M&S Outlet stores or Mantaray etc.

tomhazard · 09/04/2018 15:22

For summer bits I always got for H&M - DD loved the jersey dresses and their are some lovely (non pink) prints- at the moment she wears with brightly coloured leggings and cardis also from H&M and will shed these bits if it ever warms up...
For winter and autumn I like Some M&S stuff, Boden and Joules if I can find a discount voucher

GrouchyKiwi · 09/04/2018 15:30

Bluezoo at Debenhams has some nice things for her age.

KatharinaRosalie · 09/04/2018 15:39

For very slim, definitely check Vertbaudet. They have a special narrow fit trouser range.

Cupcakey · 09/04/2018 15:47

H&M, Sainsbury's and Morrison's is where I get most of my dd clothes. :)

BertieBotts · 09/04/2018 15:52

Mix and match with stuff from the boys section too.

bluechameleon · 09/04/2018 16:33

Mine wear mainly Frugi, Smafolk, Polarn o Pyret, Maxomorra, JNY and Villervalla, almost all bought second hand on Facebook. I like colourful, fun, childlike clothes, and no slogans.
