What do baby boys wear with tights?

MIL has sent 12 week old DS a pair of tights. They are quite cute, with foxes on the feet. I have no fundamental issue with DS wearing tights, I'm just not sure what to put with them? Mostly he lives in sleepsuits as I've not really bothered with outfits apart from a couple of pairs of dungarees. I'm thinking they might look a bit odd with just a vest, but if I put shorts/dungarees on him as well then the tights surely become just an annoying extra layer to get past for nappy changes?

Any styling ideas welcome! Or should I just re-home the tights and get on with my life?

Tights are ace when it’s cold, but it’s not so cold now that you’d need tights.
He’ll be plenty cosy in a vest and tights with a cardigan on or something - they’re no different to leggings really.

Shortd/pantaloons over tights?

My boys tend to wear them like leggings. Nice with a t shirt and jumper.

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 08/04/2018 16:03

Under leggings or joggers when it’s cold. It’s getting a bit warmer now so you might be best rehoming and getting on with life! Smile

ReinettePompadour · 08/04/2018 16:03

I'd rehome them. If its warm enough for shorts you dont need tights and thats the only thing I can think of to put them with.

I never used tights for any of my dc. They just seemed to be an extra layer they didnt need. Did your mil think they were socks? At least socks would go with anything Confused

Over a vest with no legs, like leggings.

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 08/04/2018 16:05

Tights are fab on little boys. Just wear them like leggings. Or under a romper. Properly cute and you don't have to faff with socks that can easily fall off.

Namelessnumbertwo · 08/04/2018 16:05

My son wears them as leggings.
So vest, tights/leggings, with a cardigan ontop.

In the summer I'll just put him in leggings and a t shirt.

My kids wear/wore tights every day all year round (except on very hot days) as I cannot stand baby socks! We just wear them as an undergarments with vest then outfit (dungaree/dress/pinafore/skirt and top/trousers and top) over the top.

Are you sure they are tights & not fancy baby leggings like these - bladeandrose.co.uk/product-category/leggings/ - we wear these with a top and plain cardigan or jumper.

FusRoDah · 08/04/2018 16:20

Thanks all - they are definitely tights! Looking again, the foxes aren't on the feet after all so no point putting them under something long. Might try with a long sleeve vest, or I kind of like the romper idea. As long as there are no more than two layers of clothing between me and the nappy, life is to short to be dealing with more!

We have no Scottish heritage so I think a kilt might be cultural appropriation Wink

Definitely just see them as leggings so any tops/vests/jumpers will look great with them.

I love boy tights!

Movablefeast · 08/04/2018 16:57

We lived in Germany where it can be very cold and normal for boys to wear tights under their trousers just like girls when little. My son did.

SleepingStandingUp · 08/04/2018 16:57

I put them under short dungarees when it wasn't quite warm enough for bare legs

BendydickCuminsnatch · 08/04/2018 17:25

I loooove the vest and legging look! Omg my boys look delicious like that. Maybe add a cardi or tshirt on top if you’re going out.

icantdothis2017 · 08/04/2018 17:39

I have a girl but yes just do vest and tights .
I do that with dd

Mol1628 · 08/04/2018 17:48

Oo they are Lidl tights! They’re really lovely. Definitely good for wearing just on their own, especially round the house.

bookmum08 · 08/04/2018 17:55

Under a body suit. Then enjoy the hours watching your son trying to pull them off!!! That'll keep him busy!!

bonzo77 · 08/04/2018 17:55

Mine wore them as leggings. Their little bums looked so cute and squishy in them. And their socks didn’t fall off. I miss them looking like that. All big in their jeans 😢

SubtitlesOn · 08/04/2018 18:59

Much more practical than socks on little ones when it is cold under trousers

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 08/04/2018 19:04

Ds wore them under babygros when he was tiny and the weather was very cold, and again the following winter, he wasn't yet walking but he was spending a lot of time in the floor. They were also lupilu size 3-6 months, and huge!

PeterPiperPickedSeaShells · 08/04/2018 19:10

What about tights & shorts?

penguinpurple · 09/04/2018 14:51

Mine wears them with a body vest thing instead of trousers. Quite practical in the winter as you don't keep losing socks and they stay up better than trousers on my long skinny baby. We have also used them when I want to use a shortie romper suit that looks like it will be too small by summer.

christinarossetti · 09/04/2018 14:54

You might be grateful of them on nippy days when he reaches the pulling off socks stage!
