Shoe shopping nightmare!!!!

Had the most traumatic shoe shopping experience with DS 2.10. He has never liked having shoes fitted and has been wearing wellies for ages as I couldn't bare the thought of a trip to the shoe shop. Today he beat all previous tantrum records. He sat and had his feet measured and was good as gold then he put his sandles back on ( Some i got from a carboot 2 sizes to big but he wants to wear as they have dogs on!) When the shop assistant brought out the new shoes to try on he went wild kicked the sales guy, head butted me and split my lip, slap me, it was crazy. I have never seen him get so angry. He went from 0 to 100 in a split second. I held his arms down and told him to calm down. Finally managed to get the shoes fitted and purchased, I don't even like the shoes much, but they fitted so we were off I was trying not to burst in to tears. Then the little so and so wants a treat for going to have his feet measured!!!!!!!! I was so cross with him, he'd forgotten all about it the moment we left the shop!

I can sympathise!

My DD hated going to have new shoes fitted. I bought a copy of Topsy and Tim "Old Shoes New Shoes", and we read it a few times. Completely turned it around. She WANTED to go and get a new pair of shoes (only trouble was she wanted ones with buckles on, like in the story!)

My 2.8...twin was exactly the same a few weeks ago when purchasing doodles. He went beserk, trying to kick the woman etc...he is usually so lovely, but he really hates new shoes. In the end i had to get half a size up from last time, take them home and try them myself..luckily they seemed fine. He had watched his twin sister get hers measured and fitted. It was really embarrasing, he kept pointing to the door scraming OUT!!!!!....

Typical male not liking shopping...lol

I'm on the hunt for topsey and tim book! He loves topsey and tim at the farm and thinks I milk cows when I go to work! It might do the trick.l

The lady that writes Topsy and Tim books lives reasonably close to me. I met her last year at a fete, where she was signing copies of her books. She's a lovely lady. If its any use, the next fete is 16 June - I could try to find out if she'll be there...

We have a LOT of Topsy and Tim books!

If you REALLY can't find one, I'll ask the kids if they'll lend you ours. Don't really want to part with it, as it has special memories.

That is so sweet of you. However I have a ds2 who loves books so much he likes to lick them. I wouldn't want to get it slobbered up. I think I'll be able to find a second hand one. Thanks again though.

Ugh, no! They've got some second hand ones on Amazon.co.uk. They've even got one in "new" condition for 50p (plus P&P)

I'm so excited to have found this site! I so hope someone reads this

My best friend is currently going through a really rough time in her life and is working through the hard childhood she had. We spend time revisiting some of the nice memories to help her. I've already tracked down and bought a favourite toy she had, and would love to now get hold of a book she has spoken about.

I don't know much about it! That's the problem.

All I know is - it's a Topsy and Tim book (I read them too, so it's extra special) and the last page says (according to my friend!) - "Ha ha, hee hee, I'll be fitter than Josie!"

Has anyone got any ideas at all on which book that is?

I would so appreciate any of your help xxxxx
