LO 1st Birthday - Charm Bracelet??

So I think getting my little girl a charm bracelet for her 1st birthday then adding to it each year until she is 16 is a lovely idea. At first I thought pandora but OH shot that idea down saying that are tacky and a fashion fad and we should go with an old fashioned gold one....he says at least it will be worth something if she ever wants to sell it Shock what do you think? And can anybody recommend a nice charm bracelet?

I have a nice one from links of london. I think Thomas Sabo also do affordable ones. I agree with your DH about Pandora being a bit tacky for something sentimental.

I second links of London.

My daughter has a sweetie bracelet. As do I. Happy to post pics if you want to see

I don't like pandora either. I think the quality of links is also much better. Their customer services are amazing every time

Thanks for replying, the Thomas Sabo ones are nice too but again have no real value, he wants an old yellow gold one but I just can't see it ever coming back into fashion and been something she will wear Confused for me it's more about sentimental value but for him it needs to have some actual value, he's just not sentimental at all

Maybe a compromise at white gold? A bit more timeless but still worth something although IME charm bracelets are not really worth much as resale value, only the price of the gold.

Could you do some sort of investment for her future and a less expensive bracelet to hit both requirements?

MamaMilkMachine · 31/03/2018 19:10

That's a good idea @Bobbiepin I also thought of maybe buying ounces of gold each year then getting it made into something of her choice for either 16th or 18th birthday @allthegoodnameshadgone thank you for your ideas I will have a look online

Haha that's nice but the I prefer the charm bracelet idea. It's also worth considering if you would be able to do the same or similar if you have more children. My nana got my sister and I a custom made necklace made with one of the diamonds from my great grandmother's wedding ring for our 18th birthdays. Very sentimental but didn't require the effort year on year!
