Hi my little girl is 5 weeks old and hasn't had a poo in about 5 days has anyone got any recommendations that could help her on her way??

This is not unusual. When she eventually poos, unless it is solid like a rabbit dropping then she is not constipated.

Breast or bottle fed? If bottle, then switch to ready mixed (rather than powdered) for 24 hours. Although the formulations are the same the manufacturing process in ready mixed turns the lactose to lactulose and can help bowel movement.

For EBF babies (no idea about FF) it’s not considered a problem until they go 10 days without pooing, as long as there are enough wet nappies.

DS used to go once a week from about 2-5 months. If your DD is breastfed it's normal.

Congratulations on your new LO Thanks

As others have said, it totally depends on how she’s been fed. If she’s BF, the pooing pattern sometimes changes after 4 weeks. Some poo every time they feed, others can go 2 weeks without a poo. As long as she’s not in pain and is gaining weight, it’s not a problem. Have a read of this on KellymomSmile

Any news yet @user1499451561? Smile

I don't know if it was just coincidence but I gave her a little bit of cooled boiled water and about half an hour after that she gave me about 10 days worth of poo! Grin I did a celebratory dance and everything lol

I think it was probably coincidence. Water really isn’t recommended for babies, especially one so young unless you are ffing and are in a hot country.

Good news on the poo though Smile

Seconding @JiltedJohnsJulie - great news but water isn't a great idea!
