Hello!
My name is Stiliyana and I am a graphic design student at University of South Wales. I am currently doing a research for my final major project which will tackle the problem of kids not being able to hold a pencil due to too much time spent in front of technology (www.theguardian.com/society/2018/feb/25/children-struggle-to-hold-pencils-due-to-too-much-tech-doctors-say ).
I hope this doesn’t break any rules on Mumsnet Talk. I would like to conduct a quick survey, and any answers would be really helpful. I’m not a parent myself so I’m just trying to get a better understanding of parenthood tendencies nowadays in order to find the root of this problem.
I’m mostly asking about kids aged 2-10, but if you have an older kid and want to pitch in, you are most welcome! ( It will help me compare the situation nowadays and before 5 years for example)
How old is your kid?
How many hours per day does he/she spend in front of technology (gaming, iPads, iPhones, laptops etc.)? What time of the day?
How many technological devices does your kid have access to (including your or your partner’s phone)?
What does your kid do on those devices?
How would you describe your kid’s performance in school, in particular, handwriting (any comparison here would be useful, is it better/worse than its peers, is it better/worse than you when you were that age)?
