I'm partly posting for a rant and partly for advice. My 5 yr old DS is so challenging at the moment.

DS1 is the middle child and has always been a challenge. He can be the most lovely, funny, affectionate boy when he chooses but more and more lately his temper is atrocious. Towards me, DH, big brother (8), even little sister (1).

He reserves it for home and school has nothing but praise for him; kind, attentive, popular, fun etc. So it doesn't appear that he has any development issues which might cause his temper. As far as I know he is happy at school with lots of friends.

We get lots of "I hate yous", "you're mean", "shut up" etc etc. Slamming doors, throwing stuff.

What strategies do others employ in situations like this? I try to ignore the bad behaviour although I stop the throwing and put him in his room. I remove privileges such as TV and PlayStation (which is limited anyway).

I'm really struggling with this. I never had this from DS1, they're so different!
