Toddler and eating...

Hi

My daughter will turn three in July and her eating habits have gone from bad to worse. The foods she will eat are so limited. Literally all she seems to eat is peanut butter on toast, peanut butter on bagel, peanut butter sandwich, yogurt, bananas, blueberries, cheese, butternut squash. I don't know how to handle it or what to do for the best. I find the situation very stressful and I am starting to dread dinner times. Occasionally she will eat some tinned tomatoes, the odd sausage...but that's probably not even once a week at the moment. She isn't underweight at all and seems to be a chirpy little thing, but I just want her to eat a balanced diet and be healthy for the future. Has anyone got any suggestions please? Thank you.

I have a fussy eater (well, two actually) and I find I'm always doing the same things but every meal time I just put something new or that they don't like on their plate and I don't stress if it's not eaten but sometimes they surprise me and try it and sometimes even like it.

Write an honest list of everything she will eat, because I did this once and surprised myself with actually how much there was on the list.

My DD1 likes deconstructed food (i.e. instead of vegetable pasta bake, she'll have dry pasta, some raw tomatoes, a few cubes of cheese and veg sticks, so all the ingredients just not mixed together - tbh some nights she'll just eat the pasta!)

She has a chewy vitamin sweet every day which she loves (and youngest has baby vitamin syrup in some milk) so that gives me some comfort that they are getting what they need.

My eldest was fussy. We found that minor variations worked. So for example instead of butternut squash give sweet potato. Once she is used to sweet potato give regular potatoes.

Morning. Thank you for replying. It is always good to hear that other children are like it too. I will make a list and see what she will eat and I guess just go with the flow for now. I am hoping once she starts nursery she will see other children eating and want to try different things. Confused
