First periods since baby, normal?

I had DC 9 months ago she is still BF, last month I had my first & seemligly normal period. Lasted 5-7 days, red blood, normal normal...
This month however, I came on (or so I thought) a week early. It started Sunday & there has only been brown blood with (sorry) long, stringy clots. There such a small amount im not wearing anything, it's only when I wipe but has been consistent for 4 days now. I'm concerned it might be an infection, or something pregnancy related that has just started to bleed now.
Can any one offer any advice or had a similar experience postpartum? I would really appreciate anything. Thank you!

I think mine took a few months to settle into a regular pattern. If it continues like that though it might be worth getting it checked.

Could you be pregnant again? Just a thought as an implantation bleed could be brown/light flow like that?

Hi @goodbeans no deffo not pregnant!! This is my concern everything it 'could' be does not seem to relate to me. E.g. - early pregnancy, beginning/end of cycle, time of ovulation... it's very odd.

Hi- I had this and it was an infection.
Please see GP abs they will give you medicine. GP told me it could affect fertility if left untreated

@whitney thank you so much for sharing, I am due a smear anyway & will get booked in asap. Did they tell you at all what caused the infection?

It was just left over tissue from the pregnancy and birth but was v sore and sounds just like yours.

I’m childless and my periods are usually like the latter. I think a lighter flow just stops it from leaking out as quickly and so it becomes older blood when it exits ( sorry tmi)

Although more likely to be as above if unusual for you

@whitney thanks very much this was my suspicion as I really couldn't put it down to anything else.

@lemon that is true I hadn't thought of that. I will have it checked out as it is abnormal for me (it was pre baby) anyway!!

Will update to help someone else ever in a similar situation!

Might also add the day before bleeding began me & OH (dtd) & maybe more vigorously than we had since DC was born! thinking this might have disturbed something! 😬
