ok, dd2 went straight into size 3 at one year old when we started using cloth.

dd3 was in size 1's till she was about 9 months old, is now 2yrs old and in size 2 still.

Bloomin heck. Ds had outgrown his size 1 tots at 14 weeks! I must have some kind of giant.

SenoraPostrophe · 09/05/2007 18:56

ds2- 4 months
ds1 - 6 months
dd- can't remember.

It depends on the size of your baby's bottom and also the amount they wee and how lazy you are (size 2s need changing less frequently).

bobsmum · 09/05/2007 19:06

Ds went into size 2s at 5 months and size 3s at 18 months!

DD into size 2s at 6 months and still in them at 22 months (that's ds cast offs btw )

Really it was the rise of the nappy that was too small. The tabs still went round him but he had a builders bum going on and that look is not good with an explosive bf poo! I still have the problem with the rise of his nappies now. I must sort through the nappy basket cos he seems to have outgrown everything except his fuzzi's which I always hated, but now really love. I think if your planning on using cloth from birth then buy size 1's but don't leave it until your baby is 10 weeks to start cos it's really annoying when the nappies no longer fit 4 weeks later!

Our dd was out of her size ones by three and half months - came up too short on the body resulting in builders bum. She's now just coming up 20 months and we've just ordered size 3's for daytime use as the 2's are giving that builders bum effect again. She's been in size 3's for nights for the last month as size 2's when boosted didn't come up anywhere near high enough and I got fed up of scrapping poo off my wraps, vests etc in the mornings. Have to say the size 3's are huge round the waist on her and cross over at the front but are much easier to get on and sit properly, which is a relief patic for that first morning change.

Relieved to see that size 3 use isn't hugely uncommon as up til recently hadn't met anyone I knew that had needed and was starting to think that either dd was massive for her age (she's nearly off the chart height wise but slim - dh is 6'5" though so not unexpected)or we were doing something wrong.

DS wore his size 1 tots bots until about 5/6 mths, then wore size 2's until he was about 16 mths.

He is still happily wearing size 2 diddy diapers though along with size 3 tots bots at 22mths.

I do find the tots bots sizes vary quite a lot, especially when I compare the size 3 ones that I have - the nippa ones look massive compared to the applix ones!

Washersaurus · 09/05/2007 21:26

I'm with you Twiga - I thought I was mad to have DS in size 3's so early on as everyone else seemed to be using size 2's until potty training

ravenAK · 09/05/2007 21:31

Ds into size 2 @ 8months (which was when we started using them). Out of them & into various stuffables by 1 - he's a big lad. We tried size 3 but found them a nightmare - took both of us to pin him down to change it by 18 months, whereas stuffables you can do standing! Ebayed the size 3s.

Dd straight into size 2s from birth. She was a lanky 8lb, but they were fine.

Bagpuss30 · 09/05/2007 21:34

ds2 was 5 months and 16lbs when we swapped.
