To ask how you started weaning your child/children? Any tips or advice? What foods and how did you start, how long it takes? Preparing for near future. Thanks in advance!

When they turned 6 months I gave them small portions of what we ate.

That's about it Grin

Can I ask, how often did you do it? Was it one meal a day at first or small portions at meal times? I’m a first time mum and clueless haha!

Head on over to the Weaning section. There is some great info on how to wean an when at the top of the page and lots of threads on peoples experience with Weaning. Have a look in your library to see I feel they have a copy of this book too Smile

We just started offering solids once or twice a day when baby met the signs of readiness. With our DD that was 23 weeks.

Once they are past 6 months you only have to avoid these foods, anything else goes. Best to cut up grapes and cherry tomatoes and cut sausage lengthways to avoid choking though Smile

No need for purees as the guidelines say to offer foods once they can pick up the food and put it into their mouth by themselves.

Good luck Smile

I started between 20-24 weeks with mine.
Pureed veg at first once a day, and then fruits, porridge, yoghurt.
Finger foods too once they could manage them.
Built up to 3 meals a day. From 6 months you can spoon feed family meals mashed up or give as finger foods.

Thank you 🙂 I will have a look, wasn’t sure if there was a weaning page I’m still pretty new haha. How exciting!

I gavé DD a little of what I was having whenever she was awake for meals. So breakfast and dinner quite quickly, lunch occasionally at just 7 mo. I did extra carrots, broccoli or sweet potato if she would struggle with what we were having.

Chilled blw I guess - spooned porridge, rice based dishes and sometimes purée dinner but mostly just chuck food on the highchair.
