12 week old feeding less....growth spurt or leap 3??

Hi

For the last two days my LO is taking less in his formula feeds (he is formula fed). He messes about with the bottle and if I try to get him to drink more protests. Also dribbling loads and a bit whingy at times so not sure if he is teething. Some feeds he is taking as much if not a little more but then others quite a bit less. Anyone else’s going through the same?? He is still having wet nappies.

It’s starting to worry me. HV said to monitor over a few more days but I’m still left with the worry!! Is this normal as part of the leap or growth spurt?

It’s probably nothing but if you suspect teething, I’d give him a dose of Ibruprofen to see if that improves his feeding Smile

The guide is roughly 2.5 floz per pound in weightvin 24 hours. So a 10lb baby should be having roughly 25floz. If you work it out from his weight, is he getting much less than he should?

Thanks. I’m getting him weighed tomorrow but at weigh in three and a half weeks ago he was just over 10lb. So say he is at least 11lb now he has only had about 21oz today. Not as bad as I thought now I’ve added it up but it’s only 4oz less than he is currently taking in a day anyway!! I just worry as I’m conscious he only takes 4oz per feed with six feeds anyway and had been starting to increase slightly until the last few days! He has been gaining weight steadily since he was born though. I just hope this passes soon! Sad I don’t think my nerves can take it!!

Try not to focus too much on weight. Normal healthy babies don’t need weighing more than once a month. Much better to check that they are bright and alert at times, appear healthy and are meeting their milestones Smile

Well he’s definitely been bright and chatty at times today....in between screaming when I’ve dared to try and get him to have a nap Grin

He sounds perfectly fine to me. Try not to watch the ounces and scales, try to go by how your baby is and enjoy him Smile
