Taking cot sides down/adding pillow duvet

Evening Smile I’m sure this has been asked a zillion times but we’ve just lowered DD cot bed to the lowest level now and I’ve started to wonder when we should take the sides off? She’s still in a sleeping bag too so I’m guessing it should coincide with getting her a pillow & duvet but wondering if that’s too much change in one go? I’m just worried about her falling out of bed in the grow bag and not being able to move Confused

How old is she? Has she tried to climb out yet? DS is very much the climbing type but he's in a Grobag and we've had no attempts yet. If it ain't broke don't fix it... we will think about turning it into a toddler bed when he's around 2 I think!

Ds was 2 and a half before he moved out of the cot and into a bed. He had a pillow from 12 months but didn't get a duvet until going into the bed

We took the side off DSs cot when he was 18 months old, added a cot guard so he doesn't fall out. Only did it because he detested his cot and the whole lowering him into it never worked. I think he felt caged. We started with a duvet (from a sleeping bag) at the same time. No pillow yet but he sleeps on his tummy. It was an easy transition though to be fair the sleep situation couldn't have got any worse.

Nah I wouldn't bother unless she doesn't like her cot.
Ours has had pillow and duvet since 1YO but still loves her cot at 2 1/2.
What's the hurry?

However I have heard that once they start climbing out, take the sides off, for safety.

Thanks all. She’ll be 2 in June (20 months now) and she could climb out but since we’ve lowered it again she can’t get out now. I guess because we lowered it, it’s now “bed height” and it just got me thinking. She’s happy as she is so I think I’ll leave it for the time being

We waited until she could climb out too. But gave her a thin pillow after 1 year (still used grobags). Then pillow + duvet once in a bed.
